a 1970s prairie-style cotton nightgown, made in the eyelet-and-pintuck spirit of the antique originals it borrows from. a ruffled stand collar edged in cotton lace tops a pintucked yoke worked with cutwork floral eyelet, and long gathered sleeves finish in lace cuffs. mother-of-pearl style buttons run down a center front placket.

the prairie dress and nightgown had a real moment in the 1970s, when designers revived victorian and edwardian silhouettes wholesale, pintucks, eyelet and all, for a new generation. this piece carries that history in its construction, a serged seam finish gives it away as a reproduction of the period rather than the genuine antique article, though it wears the look convincingly.
