the look

a 1920s micro beaded evening bag with a brass frame and chain handle. the front is worked entirely in tiny glass beads, a floral wreath in plum and green with red accent blooms, finished with a bronze beaded scallop at the base. bags like this were carried through the flapper era, when the older reticule gave way to smaller frame purses women could hold in one hand. the beading is fine, hundreds of beads to the inch, and mostly unsigned work: french and central european bead workers rarely marked pieces like this, which is why so many turn up without a maker attached. the wreath pattern is one of the more recognizable florals from the period.

please note: the interior lining shows staining and fraying at the seam consistent with age. the beadwork itself is fully intact, no bead loss anywhere.
