a cheerful mid-century enamel butterfly brooch: hollow-formed wings hand-painted in soft yellow with brown eyespots and fine veining, a gold-tone body and filigree antennae, and a row of prong-set purple glass stones running down the center. figural enamel butterflies like this were a costume-jewelry staple of the 1950s and 60s, each pair of wings hand-painted so no two read quite alike. this one is unsigned but full of character, the kind of bright little pin that lifts a lapel or a coat collar.

please note: unsigned. the enamel shows honest age, with light surface scratches and a few tiny edge nicks, but all stones are present and the pin works smoothly.
