the look
this re-made sweatshirt gives center stage to a rare slice of southwest textile history. the front panel features harwood steiger’s “six quail” print, hand screen-printed in tubac, arizona in the 60s, where steiger carved his own screens and mixed pigments to create bold, graphic desert-modern designs. his birds are some of his most collected motifs , stylized gambel’s quail with that slightly mischievous, midcentury angularity steiger is known for. each panel was printed by hand, which means the tiny shifts in ink and line give the fabric its charm and authenticity.
