vintage | wamcraft
the look
a striking red cotton bandana printed with a trainman-style cross motif, made in the usa by wamcraft. instead of the usual all-over paisley, the field carries rows of small twinned sprigs while the border runs ornate paisley scrolls broken by bold maltese crosses at the corners and midpoints, all outlined in white and black on deep red. the corner mark reads 100% cotton, made in u.s.a., rn 14193, copyright wamcraft, with the crafted with pride star that places it in 1984 or later. wamcraft (wamsutta) was one of the classic american bandana mills, and the cross-and-sprig print is a recognizable departure from the standard paisley vocabulary. one true selvage edge with three machine hems.
all bandanas are gently cleaned and pressed. beyond that we let them be, so any fading, softening, or small marks of use stay exactly as they came to us.
dating: US RN registered identification numbers began at RN 13670 in 1959, so a printed RN sets the earliest possible date (holder lookup via the FTC RN database); the "Crafted with Pride in U.S.A." mark comes from the Crafted with Pride in U.S.A. Council, founded 1984.
