the look
one-of-a-kind quilted dickey handmade from a reclaimed vintage patchwork quilt. designed as a versatile layering piece, this dickey adds warmth, texture, and visual interest without the bulk of a full garment. cut and sewn to sit flat across the chest with a softly structured neckline, it layers easily under coats, blazers, and sweaters, or can be worn over lightweight tops as a statement piece. finished with durable bound edges from salvaged denim for longevity and everyday wear, and waist ties so it can be worn as a vest.we have made 5 of these dickeys from this circa 1970s scrap quilt we are calling 'the amy quilt' - it is machine sewn, with fabric that we can date between the 1930s and the 1970s, including multiple polyester pieces that were likely part of a very 70s wardrobe, and pieces of 1930s/40s broadcloth. it is patch-worked on both sides, making each side very striking.
this quilt is also unique in that it has no batting between the fabric, which means it is less structured than our other quilted dickies.
