the look
a 1970s vera neumann button-down in one of her most charming novelty prints — a border of hand-painted indian corn in mustard, orange, and brown climbing from the hem through husks and silks, on cream, with a contrast brown dagger collar, placket, and cuffs. it's signed twice: the ladybug label at the neck and "vera" painted right into the print at the hem. vera neumann built an american design empire on her painterly signed prints, and her blouses — scarcer than the scarves — are the collected format. the corn print is pure vera wit, and pure autumn.
