the look
a big, glowy 1980s statement brooch in the byzantine revival mood. a domed butterscotch art-glass cabochon sits at the center, held in a beaded gold-tone bezel and ringed with high-relief scrollwork. four jewel-tone points finish the diamond silhouette: red faux-garnet cabochons top and bottom, faceted jet-black marquises to either side. the cabochon-and-scrollwork look nods to the poured-glass, chanel-adjacent costume pieces of the era, though this one is unsigned. jewelry like this leaned on colored glass to stand in for the garnet, amber and onyx of victorian and byzantine originals, and it wears as a real centerpiece.
please note: unsigned costume. light plating wear consistent with age; all stones present and secure.
