a bright red paisley bandana by paris accessories, in the classic american format, printed in white and black. a border of large curling boteh and florettes frames a looping teardrop chain and an open center field scattered with small single paisley sprigs. the corner carries the paris logo and copyright, all cotton, colorfast, rn 13960, made in u.s.a. of imported fabric. that last line is the telling one: it means the cloth was woven overseas and only printed and finished in the states, a practice that took hold as american mills wound down their own bandana weaving, and collectors generally read the imported-fabric wording as marking the later paris production of the 1990s. one edge is a true selvage with the other three hemmed.
